Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about DropScout and how it works
Getting Started
Just create a free account and paste the product URL from your favorite indie store. We'll instantly start watching for restocks and hit you up the moment something comes back. No complicated setup - just drop the link and go!
We're built for the good stuff - indie toy drops, artist merch stores, limited sneaker releases, vintage clothing boutiques, handmade jewelry shops, and those underground streetwear brands your friends haven't discovered yet. We work great with Shopify stores, BigCartel shops, and most indie ecommerce sites.
Yeah, but it takes like 30 seconds and it's free! Having an account lets you track multiple drops at once, set up your notification preferences (Discord, Telegram, whatever you prefer), and upgrade later if you become a serious drop hunter.
DropScout has been tested across over 500 small to medium storefronts and maintains 90%% accuracy for stock status detection - the core functionality you rely on for drop alerts. Due to the complexity of supporting such a diverse range of sites, there may occasionally be minor inconsistencies with product titles or prices displayed, but our stock monitoring is proven and reliable. We're constantly improving our detection algorithms to enhance accuracy across all platforms.
Pricing & Plans
The Free plan is perfect for casual collectors! You get 3 product slots with email and browser notifications. Great for keeping tabs on a few special items without spending anything.
Plus ($5/month) is perfect for staying on top of frequent releases - you get 10 slots, faster tracking, plus Discord and Telegram notifications. Pro ($15/month) is for serious drop hunters with unlimited tracking, the fastest monitoring speeds, and custom webhooks for advanced setups.
Absolutely! Cancel anytime from your dashboard and you'll keep your paid features until your billing period ends. Then you'll just drop back to the Free plan - no drama, no hassle.
Bookmarklet
The bookmarklet is a one-click tool that you install in your browser's bookmarks bar. When you're on any product page, just click it and it instantly adds that product to your tracking dashboard - no copying and pasting URLs needed! Works on desktop and mobile with step-by-step setup instructions available from your dashboard.
Once installed, clicking the bookmarklet opens a popup on the current page showing the detected product details (name, price, store). Choose your notification preferences, hit "Start Tracking," and it's instantly added to your dashboard. You must be logged into DropScout for it to work. Best results on actual product pages from supported indie stores.
How It Works
Pretty darn fast! Free users get checked every few minutes, Plus tier gets faster tracking, and Pro tier gets the fastest monitoring speeds. We're watching your drops 24/7 so you don't have to refresh pages all day.
We're built specifically for indie stores and collector culture, not big box retailers. Our system automatically detects what platform each store uses (Shopify, BigCartel, etc.) and applies the perfect monitoring strategy. We randomize our requests to avoid detection, respect store policies, and adapt when issues arise. It's like having a dedicated friend who knows every store's quirks and watches them for you.
Choose your fighter! You can get hit up via email, browser notifications, Discord messages, Telegram, or even custom webhooks if you're feeling fancy. Mix and match however you want - some people love Discord pings, others prefer simple emails.
Nope! Our detection system is smart about avoiding false positives. We only ping you when something actually restocks, not when a page glitches or shows weird data. Quality over quantity - you'll only hear from us when it matters.
"Check Failed" usually means the product page is no longer accessible - maybe the item was discontinued, the URL changed, or the store is temporarily down. Double-check that the product page still exists in your browser. If it loads fine but still shows "Check Failed," reach out to our support team.
Not at all! DropScout's stock tracking works independently from title and price extraction. Due to the universal nature of our system working across thousands of different store layouts, we sometimes extract incorrect product names or prices from complex pages. The good news: this doesn't impact our ability to detect when something comes back in stock. Plus, you can edit product titles on your dashboard if needed. Stock monitoring remains 100%% reliable regardless of display issues.
We focus on indie stores where we can be most reliable, but if you find a store that's not working properly, just hit up our support! We're always improving our coverage and love hearing about new stores to add to the mix.
Troubleshooting
First things first - check your spam folder! Then make sure your email is verified in your profile. For Discord/Telegram, double-check that you've got the right webhook URLs or chat IDs set up. You can test everything from your dashboard to make sure it's all working.
Make sure you're using the actual product page URL, not a category page or search results. Sometimes stores have temporary hiccups that block us for a bit. If it's still not working after a few minutes, reach out to our support team with the URL!
Head to your profile page to set up all your notification preferences. You can also toggle notifications on or off for individual products right from your dashboard - it's super easy to customize exactly how you want to be notified.
The Override feature lets you manually correct DropScout when it gets a product's stock status wrong. If you see that something is actually in stock but DropScout shows it as out of stock (or vice versa), just click the Override button on your dashboard. This tells our system to ignore its automatic detection and use your manual correction instead. The override automatically clears when the product page content changes, so it's perfect for fixing temporary detection issues.
We focus on indie stores where we can be most reliable! Big box retailers often have heavy anti-bot systems and complex setups that can be tricky to monitor consistently. We're built for the cool smaller stores, artist shops, and boutique brands where you'll find the really unique stuff anyway. If you find a store that's not working properly, just reach out to our support!
Our tracking system is designed to be compatible with as many platforms as possible - Shopify, BigCartel, WooCommerce, Squarespace, and tons of custom setups. But since every store owner customizes their site differently, there are always minor variations that can cause hiccups. Drop us a line with the store URL! We're constantly improving our compatibility and love discovering new indie shops to add proper support for.
